City or Suburbs?

When choosing an apartment, one thing to consider is the type of surroundings you like most. Are you a city person? Amused by night life, busy people and fast cars? Or are you more of a suburban person who enjoys a calm environment with the happy sounds of children playing? Both can offer a good range of advantages. So how do you decide? Here are some things to think about, to help you find which one has the most advantages for you.

One of the most important factors is the proximity of your potential apartment to your workplace or school. Living far away from work or school becomes a growing pain for many people, especially as the cost of commuting continues to rise. It might be preferable to find a place that is close to where you need to go. If you would still like to live a little further away, check to see if there’s a bus or train that will get you to work quickly and conveniently.

Figure out what amenities are important to you. Are you an outdoor person? If you are someone who likes a lot of outdoor activities like jogging, swimming or gardening, the suburbs may be the right place for you. There is a lot of space, and many suburban communities will have jogging or biking trails for you to use. Cities filled with sky scrapers, large apartment complexes and highways, often don’t have much space for such activities, so this is definitely something to think about.

If you are less of an outdoor person, and you enjoy cultural and art-related events, you might prefer living in the city. Cities have theaters, museums, art galleries and a whole lot more. There’re always plays and art shows to attend, new restaurants and movie theaters to try out.

Choosing where you want to live may be a little hard, but remembering these few pointers may make your decision easier. Remember to consider what is important to you and your family, so that you can make a choice everyone will be happy with.

Good luck.
