Using ApartmentRatings.com

Wouldn’t it be great to get the chance to talk to people about their neighborhood before you move there? Many years ago, if you really wanted to know, you would probably have to get in a car and drive around your new neighborhood, asking current residents for their opinions. Are they happy living there? What don’t they like about their apartment building? Is their neighborhood too noisy? What fun things are there to do? But now there’s a better way to find out. With technology came the internet; and then came www.ApartmentRatings.com. With Apartment Ratings, you can find out so much information about a community without having to go round knocking on doors. There is a discussion forum, and a Q&A section where you can ask just about any question concerning your potential neighborhood. You can read the comments of past and present residents, and of course see what they rate their apartments.

But there is something you might want to keep in mind: some of the comments you are likely to find online regarding certain apartments might be complaints that unhappy residents have posted. Think about it: isn’t it when you’re mad about something that you are more likely to leave a comment? Even outside of the apartment world, people tend to talk about things more when they are dissatisfied. Happy residents often keep their good comments to themselves or share them only with close friends and family. It is on occasion that they post their comments on different websites. That is not to say you will not find a good number of positive comments out there. You just need to keep an open mind, and use your own sense of judgment as well. Apartment Ratings is just an additional tool to help you make your own decision. You, of course, shouldn’t settle for poor treatment, and if too many people are complaining, that might be a serious red flag. But if only a couple of people have a slight problem, it may not be an indicator that you need to cross your dream apartment off your list. As you go and shop for your future apartment, remember to gather as much information as you can, so that you don’t make a decision you’ll regret later. Apartment Ratings is a good place to start, but get information from other sources as well. And trust your instincts. It’s a hard decision to make when you have many options, but you can do it! Good luck!
