Living in a small apartment isn’t always easy, especially when it comes to finding storage space. Moving into a bigger place is an option, but it may be expensive or inconvenient for you. So then how do you make the best of the apartment you already have? You’d be surprised just how many ways there are to put all your things away.
Empty wall space can be a great place for storage. Wall shelves can save you a lot of space and make your bare walls less boring. You can store books, small boxes, CDs and dishes; throw in a picture frame or some flowers to add some life to the room. You could also mount shelves in your bathroom, for example, right over the toilet. This could be a good solution for storing shampoos, cosmetics, toilet paper or anything else you think belongs there.
Reconsidering the type of TV or entertainment system you have, or want to buy could be a step in the right direction. It seems like as time goes by, more and more people are buying bigger and bigger TVs with all the special surround sound speakers and accessories. But why not consider something different? With a small living room it could be a good idea to get a plasma TV that you can hang on the wall. If you’re not looking to spend that much money, you could still get a CRT TV and put it up on a stand that has storage units. That way, you’ll be using the same space for more than just one thing.
You may think that you’re using all the space you have under your bed, but you could be wrong. Reconsider how you’ve arranged the things under your bed. There could be a more efficient way of getting everything under there. You could also get a higher bed or bed lifts to create that extra space you need.
Many department and home improvement stores sell racks that you can easily hang over the top of your door. An over-the-door rack can be a great solution to many of your storage problems. You could get one for shoes, or one with hooks. It’s a convenient place to hang jackets, handbags and sweaters as well. You could also get a rack for your bathroom and hang some towels neatly behind your bathroom door.
Always remember that the option of selling some of your stuff remains open. Maybe you can’t find a place for everything because you’re keeping too many things you don’t need. Think about selling things on websites like EBay or Craigslist, or have a yard sale! Doing this will get you some extra cash and some space to move around! You could also consider donating things to charity. It’s always a great way to put a smile on someone’s face!
