It’s a universally known fact that moving is a stressful and most of the time our brand new space isn’t the ideal size for all of our possessions. After finally getting all your furniture, boxes and bags in your new apartment then comes the daunting task of organizing it all. Here are five tips on how to get organized and maximize the space that you have.
- Hooks and Over the Door Storage: Don’t have the closet space for hanging your coats? Or the room for a shoe shelf? Try utilizing your door space. Over the door shoe organizers can help your shoe collection from becoming a mixed-matched mess and a simple hook can hold your coats or towels.
- Wall Shelves: Instead of having bare, sparse walls, spice them up with shelves. These shelves can hold anything from your dishes to your DVDs and maybe a picture frame or two.
- Under the Bed Storage: Give an eviction notice to the monsters under your bed and use drawers or under the bed bags to store sheets, towels, or seasonal clothing.
- Chests and Trunks: These storage containers are also functional pieces of furniture. Place a trunk in the living room and you can fill it with your DVD collection and extra blankest while also using it as a coffee table.
- Storage Ottomans: Though a little more pricey way of getting organized, storage ottomans are a great addition to your living room. Get organized and have your comfort too.
Wonderful Tips!! Our family moved back in October and I hate to say that I still have boxes in the basement that I need to unpack.
I think putting up some floating shelves would be really helpful.
We do have a few of the Storage Ottomans that you speak of in #5 and that keeps the clutter down in our living room quite nicely.
