This week, let’s discuss some tips and things to consider when renting an apartment:
- Decide what type of atmosphere you want to live in. Do you want to live in an urban area or one that is more suburban? Are you single and looking for nightlife or are you more interested in a family oriented community?
- Find out about any restrictions that a property has such as policies on pets, alcohol, parking, and outdoor furniture.
- Visit a property both during the day and at night. Things can seem different than they really are in the light of day.
- If an on-site gym or fitness facility is important to you, make sure to tour it while touring the property. See if it is the type of place that you would like to utilize.
- Make sure that you read and understand your lease. Ask about the renewal process and the lease termination process just in case it is necessary.
- You can save some time and hassle by ordering your credit report before the application process. This way you can look it over for any errors. A majority of property managers will run a credit check after receiving your application.
- If you feel it is necessary, come prepared with written recommendations.
